Step into “From Wild Eccentric Flowers to The Great Fallen Bosc”, where the surreal meets the real in an artist’s 30-year odyssey of painting. Opening on the first Saturday, May the 4th, this exhibit curated by our gallery presents a striking contrast between the ethereal beauty of surrealistic flowers and the grounded elegance of realistic pears.
So, what can you expect out of “From Wild Eccentric Flowers to The Great Fallen Bosc?”
Inspirational Nature: Lane’s work is inspired by the beauty of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park, with a focus on the floral genre and capturing nature’s ephemeral beauty.
Surreal Explorations: Early in his 30-year career, Lane explored surrealism, creating vibrant and dreamlike compositions to reflect the zeitgeist of the flower power movement as a form of political and creative self-expression.
Romantic Delights: Lane’s current undertakings have taken a turn toward the romantic, picking pears as his preferred muse, focusing in realism to capture their true tenderness.
This event is open to the public and refreshments will be served. In fact, not just any refreshments - but select accoutrements by private chef and local oil painter, Alphonse Lane - whose name you might have heard of as the artist highlighted in this solo show! “The Pear carries for us a message,” Lane says.
That message is all about the journey the Pear has traveled in life, just as we as humans carry markings of our travels. Each Pear carries on its flesh, wounds, dents, and marks (that make it) very human. (These wounds) can drum up many powerful negative and downtrodden emotions.
-Alphonse Lane
When viewing these works, Lane wants us to consider that “We are more like the Pear than you think.”
We invite you to immerse yourself in this visual feast and explore the depths of the artist’s dual styles. Celebrate with us the tenderness of creation and the contrasts that define our world at “From Wild Eccentric Flowers to The Great Fallen Bosc.”
